I was looking for a rope we could use for scrambling with occasional use as a lead rope for easier short pitches and after much research I settled on this one from Zoutianya. This factory complies with the testing requirements for both CE and UIAA and their ropes have a good reputation.
It has a 7 fall rating as a single rope so it is safe to lead on placing protection and belaying should the situation demand that course of action. There is of course a weight penalty and many guides prefer to use thinner, lighter ropes where they know the rope not need to take any kind of leader fall.
The 30m length I found ideal on days out such as the Cuillin Ridge on Skye and Curved Ridge in Glen Coe. Previously I used a 20m length but occasionally I found the extra 10m was useful when using it with two other climbers.
